自1974第一個年份以來,僅遇好年份方釀製,至今已超過40個年份,在100%全新法國橡木桶中熟成24個月,根據每一片葡萄園的地理位置與特質,種植相對應最適合的葡萄,葡萄園生長期由酒廠縝密的管理,不同葡萄品種分開進行採收、揀選及發酵。


酒色深沉、集中,散發濃郁的黑色莓果、李子香氣,伴隨著香料、小荳蔻和濃縮咖啡的香味,風味新鮮、集中,丹寧優雅如絲,口感飽滿柔順、豐富、多層次,以及黑色水果、甜香草莢、黑胡椒已及黑巧克力等風味。

In 1974 Joe Phelps had the idea to make a separate cuvee each year, one that would represent the finest wine he could make from each vintage. He didn’t necessarily think it would always be a Cabernet Sauvignon. It might be a white wine in some years, a Chardonnay or a Riesling, or it might be a Syrah or Merlot. His only thought was to make one wine that represented the best of what Joseph Phelps Vineyards could produce each year. He decided to name the wine Insignia, a proprietary name that would give him the flexibility to make the wine out of any varietal he chose.
 
As it happened, 1974 was a great year for Cabernet Sauvignon in Napa Valley and the 1974 Insignia was 94% Cabernet from the Stags Leap District. The following year Merlot dominated the blend, and in 1976, it returned to Cabernet, this time from the Eisele Vineyard. It was becoming increasingly clear that red Bordeaux varieties – particularly Cabernet Sauvignon - were ideally suited to Napa Valley and would consistently yield the best wines of the vintage. From 1977 on, Cabernet Sauvignon was never less than 50% of the Insignia blend and gradually became the dominant varietal. Joe’s vision evolved: Insignia would always be a proprietary red Bordeaux-style blend.

    Joseph Phelps Vineyards 由 Joseph Phelps 創立於 1973年,在接下來的 40餘年間,Joe 成為加州葡萄酒業界中的知名人物,釀造出許多廣為人知的標誌性葡萄酒。至今,酒莊仍然由 Phelps 的家族接管,持續釀製出讓人驚嘆的頂級葡萄酒。

    1973年,喬.費普Joe Phelps以他的名字創立酒廠,經過許多年努力,已從地區性的酒廠擴張為全國性的卓越酒廠。在三十年兢兢業業的經營後,2005年11月,喬.費普先生退居主席,由董事會選出他的兒子,比爾,接掌經營的職位。

    *瑟費普葡萄園Spring Valley Home Ranch
    喬.費普於1973年買下位於聖海倫娜地區外Spring Valley的一塊670英畝的土地並轉型成約瑟費普葡萄園Spring Valley Home Ranch,並於1974年以創新的方式與命名第一個年份的Insignia英絲妮亞紅酒,為加州最早的波爾多混調風格紅酒之一,兼容家族堅持與創新而成的英絲妮亞紅酒。
     
    2009年起酒廠使用百分之百那帕谷中自有莊園的葡萄,也使用自然動力法,並擁有那帕綠化機構(Napa Green)與友善漁業栽種(Fish Friendly Farming)等認證,提升品質之餘也秉持永續農業與企業責任的精神。                      
     
    *弗伊史東葡萄園Freestone
    以生產世界級的黑皮諾葡萄與夏多娜葡萄酒為目標,1999年,費普家族與約瑟費普葡萄園的經營團隊開始在加州索諾瑪海岸弗伊史東地區附近開拓100畝的葡萄園;2005年,他們在那裡設立了一個全新的酒廠,以精細的傳統工法建造,並在2007年完工。
     
    *Vineyards 葡萄園
    索諾瑪海岸的弗伊史東葡萄園由兩個葡萄園所組成Pastorale園與Quarter Moon園,這兩個葡萄園東臨Bodega海灣,距離太平洋僅5至8英哩,有著長且涼爽的生長季節。當地特有的土壤( Goldridge soil ),搭配細心挑選嫁接時的砧木,選用自然動力法與永續農業法則讓夏多娜與黑皮諾葡萄展現弗伊史東的特有風情。
     
    在2000年,種植首批葡萄藤,為了分辨最好的地點與砧木,於是在2007年進行分段移植。迄今為止,在弗伊史東葡萄園出產的葡萄酒極富有深度,
    有著土壤、果醬、香料與礦物的氣息,莊園中超過80%的葡萄園都栽種著黑皮諾葡萄。
     
    *酒廠The Winery
    弗伊史東酒廠位於葡萄園的中央,外觀設計與周遭自然地理融合。酒廠依照三個原理設計,運用重力作用來運送葡萄汁至發酵槽,再將發酵之後的葡萄酒送至酒桶中,位於最底端的酒窖環境十分理想,以最小量的能源來控制溫度與濕度。整個酒廠呈現出環保與自然的精神。

Because of this, since 2004, Insignia has been 100% estate grown, a blend of the best wine lots from our vineyards in St. Helena, Rutherford, Oakville, the Stags Leap District, the Oak Knoll District and South Napa Valley. Estate vineyards give us complete control over the quality of our grapes, and provide our winemaker with profound resources when it comes to creating Insignia each year. Produced without regard to quantity and with only one goal in mind – to make the best wine possible each vintage – Insignia continues the pioneering legacy founded by our father and grandfather over forty years ago.

    Over forty years later, Insignia is recognized as one of the world’s most iconic wines.
