KAESLER Old Vine Cabernet Sauvignon,
Barossa Valley, South Australia, Australia
At Kaesler we have 35Cabernet Vineyards; two on the original Kaesler farm, and one from Barrington’s, over the main road from Kaesler. The soil type on all the sites is red brown loam over clay and then over limestone rubble and is perfectly suited for Cabernet Sauvignon. The clay builds the fruit and strength into the wine, and limestone the finer tannins. Our 2005 Cabernet was matured in new and one & two year old French oak for 15 months. The wine was neither fined nor filtered. Colour: Ruby and dense garnet. Nose: Strong up-font blackberry and spice box with toasty characters. Old fashioned in style. Palate: Firm tannin, dark berries, intense with a long finish. Opulent palate with great structure. Notes Cabernet Sauvignon is seriously under rated in Barossa. Our 2005 Cabernet is one our best to date and should drink well over the next 10 years.

Kaesler Vineyards and Winery
Kesler is a privately owned wine company that produces estate grown wines from vineyards as old as 1893. The Kaesler family were pioneers who settled in the Barossa Valley in the 1840’s. In 1891 they bought a parcel of land and in 1893 planted their first vines.Today Kaesler wines are made from these ancient, dry grown vineyards, by the third owners of this magnificent property. Now more than 70% of Kaesler’s red wine vines are 40 or more years old – age that shows in the brilliance of the wines. The present range of Kaesler Wines springs from a worldwide search for a property to produce the best possible grapes for red wine.
